Cynthia Teniente-Matson Is Named Texas A&M President

Former NACUBO Board Chair Cynthia Teniente-Matson has been named president of Texas A&M University–San Antonio.

Teniente-Matson, who began her duties as interim president in January, was most recently the vice president for administration and CFO of California State University (CSU), Fresno. Her responsibilities included financial services, facilities and capital management, human resources, technology services, university police, and auxiliary services. Texas A&M’s board of regents will vote this month on Teniente-Matson’s confirmation as president. 

Teniente-Matson has served CSU since 2004. From 1991 to 2004, she held a variety of administrative positions at the University of Alaska Anchorage, culminating in her role as vice chancellor of administrative services.  


Tune in to Webcasts on Planned Giving, Endowment Study

NACUBO is holding this month two webcasts—Conquering the Challenges of a Planned Giving Program; and Understanding the Results of the 2014 NACUBO-Commonfund Study of Endowments, and a Look to 2015 and Beyond. 

Scheduled for Feb. 11, the webcast on planned giving will provide an overview of the various types of instruments that an institution’s advancement office can consider. Speakers will share examples of accompanying accounting and operational challenges, including suggestions for efficiently and effectively maintaining a planned giving program. Speakers include Camille Anderson Licklider, executive director, gift planning, Northwestern University, Evanston, Ill.; Rob Nordin, vice president, philanthropic specialist, Wells Fargo; Peter Ugo, partner, Crowe Horwath LLP; and Sue Menditto, director, accounting policy, NACUBO.

The webcast on the 2014 endowment study, scheduled for Feb. 19, will focus on how endowments performed last year and also provide a preview of the challenges that CBOs and investment staff may face in coming years. Participants will learn which asset allocation strategies produced the highest returns in 2014, and how college and university endowment managers can benefit from emerging investment strategies.

Speakers include William Jarvis, managing director and head of research, Commonfund Institute; Michael H. Strauss, chief investment strategist and chief economist, Commonfund; David English, CFO, and vice president of finance and administration, Augustana College, Rock Island, Ill.; and Ken Redd, director of research and policy analysis, NACUBO.
