In 2018, the Texas Council of Public University Presidents and Chancellors (CPUPC) collected data about the benefits of earning a bachelor’s degree to individuals, their communities, and the state. The division of marketing and communications at Texas A&M University, College Station, then converted these data into colorful infographics, designed especially for Texas higher education leaders to distribute as they engage in conversations about the impact of higher education with employers, community leaders, legislators, students, and families.
Data sources were verified by the University of Texas System’s office of institutional research and analysis. Additional senior administrators from the University of Texas System, the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, and the Texas Tech University System, Lubbock, assessed the data in terms of its significance and value added to the project. CPUPC invited members of the council’s executive committee and governmental relations representatives from each university to comment on the project and prioritize the various data. After the infographics were created, CPUPC invited comment from council officers and senior administrators who had initially evaluated the data.
CPUPC comprises the chief executive officers of Texas’ public general academic and health science centers/medical schools and its six university system offices. Established more than 20 years ago, the council provides a forum for discussing the mutual needs, concerns, and issues facing public universities in Texas and encourages interinstitutional cooperation in meeting the state’s higher education goals.
As NACUBO returns to Texas for its annual meeting for the first time in 20 years, here is a sampling of some of the infographics created by CPUPC as part of its “Value of Texas Higher Education” infographic initiative released in 2018.
